Japan Travelogue: Ghibli Museum Tour

Japan has gained worldwide recognition for its manga and anime creations. Every year, Japan sells over two billion manga, which includes Japanese comic books and graphic novels. Additionally, anime, referring to animated Japanese films and TV shows, holds a significant share of 60% in the global animation-based entertainment industry. Among the renowned Japanese animation studios, Studio Ghibli, Inc. (株式会社スタジオジブリ Kabushiki-gaisha Sutajio Jiburi) stands out, producing some of the highest-grossing films worldwide.

The Ghibli Museum is a dedicated showcase of the works from the esteemed Japanese animation studio. Its doors opened in October 2001, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of Studio Ghibli. The museum’s design was personally crafted by Studio Ghibli’s very own director Hayao Miyazaki, using storyboards similar to the ones used in the creation of his iconic films.

Among these exhibits, visitors can find iconic characters such as Nausicaa on her glider (from “Nausicaa And The Valley Of The Wind” from 1984), Kiki on her broom (from “Kiki’s Delivery Service” from 1989), The Catbus (from “My Neighbor Totoro” from 1988), and many more cherished characters from Studio Ghibli’s captivating repertoire.
