KCP is fast-paced but really fun.

Laura from 2013

Why did you select this program?

I was really drawn to KCP because of the fact that the classes are completely taught in Japanese. Although it can be difficult at times, the teachers have been so good about getting their point across and trying their best to explain something. I absolutely love the direct approach!

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I'm glad the summer short students got those 2 weeks to review before we were placed into our official class. If I hadn't had the group session, I might not have been able to get into level 2, which is what I wanted.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

just being in class and speaking in pairs is helpful. I think the benkyonoto homework is definitely good practice. There's always a section for writing in the correct particles and I used to think I was good at particles but now I realize there's so many rules for them! It's good to practice them everyday.

Where did you reside over the course of this program?

Dormitory

Where did you live?

Ikebukuro

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

It was really close to school and Shinjuku, which was great. I didn't mind at all that the rooms were smaller than Kasai. I only would have liked to be in Kasai cause all the friends I made lived there!

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

I'm a bargain shopper so I looked at a lot of different study abroad options in Japan before selecting KCP. I was slightly worried because I literally could not find any bad comments about KCP anywhere online, and that made me suspicious... But the truth is, KCP is simply the best! I have no complaints at all. Michiko-san and Tanaka-san are sooo helpful... they even helped me and some friends reserve bus tickets and sleeping arrangements for Fuji-san! For anyone seriously interested in learning Japanese, KCP is fast-paced but really fun. I totally recommend it!

At first I thought KCP was too good to be true because I could not find a single negative review anywhere. Every comment I found was positive. Turns out there’s a very good reason for this 🙂
