The teachers at KCP are always eager to help students in any way they can.

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The bus trip was the most satisfying, because it allowed me to experience sights relavent to Japan's cultural heritage, while also giving me the opportunity to practice speaking with Native Japanese whom I encountered on the trip.

Why did you select this program?

This program was the highest-recommended language program for Japan, which fit both my time schedule and my budget.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The teachers at KCP are always eager to help students in any way they can. However, I am not accustomed to such long class periods, and as a result I found it hard to concentrate toward the end of every class.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I found that the most helpful activity is speaking practice, both in class and outside of class.

Where did you reside over the course of this program?

Dormitory

Where did you live?

Azeria Kasai

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

The dorm manager and all dorm staff were pleasant and eager to help the residents with any query. The cafeteria chef, especially, always made a point of conversing in Japanese with the residents, which was helpful to learning Japanese.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

One of the hardest parts of this program, for American students especially, is a lack and vocabulary and kanji. Prior to the program, I highly recommend studying both kanji and new vocabulary for 10 minutes every day. Once in the program, never hesitate to ask KCP teachers or staff for assistance. They will always be kind and helpful and will not hesitate to figure out a solution to your problem. My teachers even offered to do one-on-one speaking sessions with me, because I wanted to increase my oral communication and listening skills.

Testimonials

Not only did I have a great time at KCP, but the improvement I’ve witnessed in my Japanese proficiency is astounding. I still can’t quite believe I’ve learned so much in such a short time. Although I’m sad that I’m leaving by the end of this term, I’ll always have fond memories of my time here. I am truly grateful to all the staff, especially the instructors, as well as my fellow classmates for making my time here exceptional. I highly and without hesitation recommend KCP International Japanese Language School to anyone looking to learn Japanese.
