Compelling Anime Characters

Japanese anime has come a long way over the years in the techniques and methods used through advancements in technology. As one of the most popular art forms in the country, anime and manga have garnered international acclaim and have a quite a huge following. With numerous adaptations from manga, anime graphic art, cinematography and stories with compelling characters have continued to capture audiences of all ages all around the world.

Check out some of the best anime characters that continue to engage, captivate and inspire audiences.

The characters of “A Place Further than the Universe”.

Mari Tamaki, also known as Kimari. She always seeks to discover and learn about things she doesn’t know about. To make the most of her youth, she decides to go on an adventure to enrich herself with new experiences.

Shirase Kobuchizawa is a shy and timid girl. Her mother is an Antarctic observation crew member who went missing in an expedition to Antarctica. She dreams of finding her mother as she believes she is still alive.

Hinata Miyake works as a part-time clerk at a convenience store. She is a high school drop-out preparing for her college entrance exams. She wants to do something special with the time she has before her entrance exams.

Yuzuki Shiraishi is a high school student from Hokkaido. She has a very calm and rational personality in contrast to the other girls. She’s been acting since she was young and has been so busy working, she has not had the time to develop any close friendships.

“A Place Further than the Universe” tells the story of the four friends who take a trip together to Antarctica. With each character having their own reason for joining the adventure, the girls show strength by endearing every trial in their own way through teamwork. Audiences watch the girls learn and grow through every adventure.

Izuku Midoriya of “My Hero Academia”.

“My Hero Academia” is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi and was adapted into anime in 2015. The story is about a boy named Izuku Midoriya. He is known as a Quirk, someone without superpowers in a world where having powers are common.

Japan’s greatest hero, All Might, meets Izuku and sees his potential and shares his powers with the young boy and helps him get into a prestigious school for heroes in training. His experiences and how he chooses to handle and learn from them make him into a relatable and model character.
